Our Speaker: Joseph Shacat
Director of Sustainable Pavements, NAPA
Joseph serves as the technical lead for Emerald Eco-Label, NAPA’s Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) program for asphalt mixtures. He also directs research projects related to asphalt pavement sustainability and resilience, educates the asphalt industry about sustainability and how to incorporate it into their organizations, and works with external stakeholders such as government agencies and green rating systems.
Prior to joining NAPA, Joseph worked for a vertically integrated construction materials and paving firm for nearly 10 years as their environmental compliance manager. In a previous position as an environmental consultant, he managed diesel emission reduction grants for construction equipment and municipal fleets and developed environmental management systems for industrial facilities. He is the past chair of the Hawaii Environmental Council and has served on the board of several nonprofit organizations.
